Privacy

Hideling is a test version of a daily 3D hide-and-seek game. You do not need an account, and there are no ads.

What we count

To learn whether people come back, your browser keeps a random number (no name, no email). With it we count, per day: that the page was reached and the game loaded (and how long loading took), that it was started and finished, how long the game was open, and whether you shared, hid or searched for an animal. We also note whether the screen is a touch screen, which language you play in, and which link you came from (for example a code for a group of testers). For the daily ranking we store your first time of the day, with how many hints and misses it took, so we can tell you what share of players was slower. If the game runs into an error, we keep the technical error message.

What we do not do

No cookies for tracking, no advertising, no sharing with others. The game runs on Vercel (hosting) and stores the counts in Upstash (database).

Names

When you hide an animal for a friend, the name you type goes into the link you share. We do not store it.

Ranking

If you pick a nickname, it is shown in the ranking with your time and points. To stop abuse, we briefly count how many results come from one network address; we only keep a scrambled form of the address, for two days.

Who it is for

Hideling is for general audiences aged 13 and up.

Removing your data

Clear the site data in your browser and the random number is gone; the counts left behind can no longer be tied to you.
